There is widespread regret in Cavan GAA circles at the death of Pat O’Keeffe from Drumalee which occurred yesterday. In his youth Pat played with his native club Drumalee and at county level he was a well-known and respected referee who took charge of Cavan championship finals at minor, under 21, intermediate, and senior level. He also refereed countless league and underage finals. As a referee he demonstrated fairness and integrity and he treated everyone with dignity and respect. He was firm with the whistle but had a great sense of humour and was always highly respected by the players. Cavan Co Board GAA offers its deepest sympathies to his wife Eileen, son Tomás, daughter Niamh, brothers Felim, Kieran and Cyril, sisters Angela, Evelyn and Fidelma and the extended O’Keeffe and Cunningham families. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
